Kassa hardware is niet meer weg te denken uit winkels. Of het nou gaat om kleine, simpele kassa apparatuur of grotere apparatuur met verscheidene functies; elke winkel heeft er wel een. Vaak zit er ook een POS Terminal of Mobiele Terminal bij. In de horeca zien we bijvoorbeeld ook vaak een touch kassa. Het tijdperk van de papieren administratie is allang voorbij en efficiënte bedrijfsprocessen staan op de voorgrond. Er wordt veel geïnvesteerd in kassasystemen hardwares, omdat deze het hart van het bedrijf vormen. Een groot deel van administratie verloopt via deze systemen en het bedrijf staat of valt met haar boekhouding. 
 

Het is daarom belangrijk dat de kassasysteem hardware altijd up-to-date is en goed wordt onderhouden. Een kleine fout kan namelijk grote gevolgen hebben. Kassasystemen hardware is ondenkbaar uit elke type winkels en ondernemingen. We zien deze apparatuur het meeste bij de kassa retail hardware en pos kassa hardware, wanneer we bijvoorbeeld nieuwe kledingstukken of de boodschappen afrekenen. De kassa horeca hardware zien we minder vaak, omdat er afhankelijk van de grootte van de horeca gelegenheid een of slechts enkele kassa’s aanwezig zijn, die veelvuldig worden gebruikt door het personeel en vaak op een plek staan waar gasten weinig langskomen. Zo zijn er speciale kassa’s ontwikkeld voor meerdere sectoren. Hotels hebben bijvoorbeeld weer andere typen apparatuur waarop zij niet alleen vrije kamers maar ook gast gegevens kunnen bijhouden. Zeker bij grotere bedrijven waar in ploegendiensten wordt gewerkt, helpt de kassa het team om onderling contact te houden bij wisselingen. Data hoeven niet meer schriftelijk of mond op mond te worden doorgegeven en zo worden fouten of misverstanden voorkomen. De kassa hardware vormt het kloppende hart van een onderneming, omdat deze direct op de werkvloer staat. Het is erg belangrijk om een systeem te kiezen dat voorziet in de behoeften van de onderneming, omdat het geen apparatuur is dat elk jaar vervanging behoeft.
